There is still a problem. [modern day slavery]

{{slavery}} wait, it still exists?

Yes, it does still exist and there are twenty-seven million slaves right now. That is a pretty astonishing fact, a fact that can cause hope to soar in you to be the change or fill the need or, maybe just the opposite, deep sorrow. "How in the world could this slave trade be abolished?

Well, there are a ton of resources available for people who need help. There are groups like the A21 campaign who go in and rescue victims. This group also has safehouses for these ladies to stay in after being rescued.  I saw the lady who organizes A21 at Passion, her name is Christine Caine, she is a very energetic woman who channels her energy for Christ. She had so much scripture put to memory that she kept referring to in her talk.
I just took the slavery footprint survey. It is a very eye opening survey, basically by what you own calculations are made to see how many slaves work for you. I took the survey and found I had 35 slaves working for me. Pretty shocking, it caused me to think twice. The slavery footprint group has an android and iphone application to let companies know that the customers don't want products from slaves. How cool is that?! I think it is so neat that this group is utilizing the technological age we are in to help end slavery, ultimately to give God the glory. Here is some info about slavery footprint, & you can get the app here.
Another group called Tiny Hands is involved in many things but there is a really neat program they started called One Girl Prayer. You "spiritually" adopt a girl and pray for her, the traffickers, government officials etc. I think I'd like to do that. A really practical, powerful way to get involved, and super easy! Plus, you donate $10 and receive a bracelet as a reminder to pray for the little girl.

This should be moving, irksome, and impacting. why? Because spiritually, this was you before Christ. You were trapped, bound in chains with nowhere to turn. Everyday was the same, mundane, and at first things might have been fine and cheery. After your situation went south, where could you go? You couldn't run, and you couldn't hide. But still, Jesus was sent with an extended hand outstretched to you. Yes. You. Little you, the one who keeps messing up, who is so filthy, and has nothing to offer. But God still takes you in with embracing arms. He wraps you up and promises to never leave your side. Yes, there will be heartache, battles, and you will need courage, but He shall be your defense, your shield and he will go before you. So, we, who are physically free, and plenty capable of serving these destitute men, women, and children, what can we do? In Christine Caine's talk at Passion 2012, she was sharing with a Russian girl the good news of the gospel and truth about God. Truth that he had a plan, a destiny for her, no matter what occurred in her past. The young girl then proceeded to ask,"If what your telling me about your God is true, if this is true about your God, then why didn't you come sooner?"

We are to go to the nations. Each individual has a God ordained purpose in sharing his mission : bringing the gospel to all. Each of us have unique talents and gifts. How are you using yours to further the Kingdom of God? Where has he planted you? Are you even aware of the need in this dying world? This is not our home, you and I have a very short life here. What am I doing that is worthwhile? What are you doing?

2 Corinthians 5:1-7

1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of  things not seen.

  1. I looooved this, "Jesus was sent with an extended hand outstretched to you. Yes. You. Little you, the one who keeps messing up, who is so filthy, and has nothing to offer. But God still takes you in with embracing arms."

WOW! 35?!? When they say working for you... what do they mean? And how do they find out who the slaves are?

    1. The slavery footprint team deduces by the items you have in your home how many slaves are "working" for you due to the fact that slavery is apart of practically *everything* you buy. It isn't like Lucy from Ukraine, Dylan from Nigeria, and Summer from china work for you. No it's just a representation of who "has/is" working for you due to the enormous consumerism market we live in. Does that make sense?
