Yesterday, I got my braces taken off! YAY! My teeth are so smooth; this is such a long anticipated removal.  My mouth is a slip 'n slide inside, it's great :)

Before my braces were taken off. I chose this picture because you can really see my braces.
This is a lovely snapshot my mom took of me while I was getting my retainer mold taken.
TAAADAAAAA! :) My white teeth and sunburned face. In person it's like staring at the blazing sun (my face) and seeing the white glory of an angel(my teeth)... AT THE SAME TIME. haha

{note the fine white line next to my necklace--pretty sure that's the one of the few un-maimed by the sun spots }

"Your name and your renown are the desire of our souls"

Miscellany Monday @

1.  Sunday school was fantastic! We are starting a new six week series on the presence of God by J.D. Greear. There is a video clip sermon/message and then the class has a discussion. Yesterday was about "The Pleasure of His Presence" and  how we value God's blessings over his presence, being with him.  The passage of the bible the class was looking at was Exodus 33:3.15-18

3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”

Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”17 And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”
 18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

The points from the message were :
  • Presence is the point of Christianity
  • Having the presence of God in our lives has always been the point, we've been yearning for him since the fall of Adam and Eve.
  • What you need when you are in pain is the touch of the savior not good doctrine "he works all things for your good." You need the touch of the savior because he has experienced pain.
Okay, so that's my mini sermon recap-- it was SO good :)

2. THEN-- the actual sermon was great also! We're going through a series in first peter, and yesterday's message was about suffering.{I Peter 4:12-19}

  • Non-Christians and Christians go through the same trials so the world can see the difference in how the situations are handled.
  • "How could such a loving God allow bad things to happen?" <-- |common question we ask|
  • We did it! We sinned. How could humanity be such a bonehead to transgress Him? |response to the question|
  • We were created to enjoy God forever in all things, and if my tears allow me to see Christ more, may I continue to weep.
  • I am being refined all the more through the trials. It will sting and it will hurt but looking back, I will be thankful.
3. At work yesterday I walked past a sign that had the word oodles on it. It made me smile. {grin}

4.On Friday my humanities class was cancelled so I was able to talk to my English teacher about my research paper I'm writing. She is such a sweet lady!She's planning a trip to Disney so she bought travel guides and is highlighting them, adorkable :) I actually started writing my paper, which feels really good to have started. That first sentence/paragraph/page is always hard to begin. Once I stop dangling my toes in the water and jump in I'm all or nothing.

5. March Maddness starts! WOOO! :) We have a family tradition/competition, we all fill out basketball brackets and we keep a point system for who predicts the winning games. Whoever has the most points wins. It's really funny to see that the least interested people typically win!

6. The Passion podcast L.I.V.E is tonight at nine p.m. You should definitely tune in. Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockles, Kristian Stanfill, and Louie Giglio will be on there sharing about the new Passion album : White Flag that you should definitely go buy. It comes out tomorrow. : D : D

7. I heard the song "White flag" by Chris Tomlin -- ON THE RADIO! :) It.was.awesome. I was worshiping in the car with the windows rolled down and the volume up to the maximum capacity.

8. I'm going to be able to go bike riding with my Grandparents on the beach. I love them so much, they are such a godly example to me.  They treat all of their grandchildren so well. I'm blessed to be able to spend time with them. It is such a beautiful day, I can't wait to enjoy it!

modge podge, salad, and other random friday favorites!

Here are some of favorite things that have happened this week :

1.  Spring is here! And it has shown its lovely face. Green is literally everywhere. All along the highway and the little county rounds bright, vibrant green shouts hello! Azaleas are blooming everywhere also; i love how alive every little bit of creation looks now.
This picture is really dark, shame phone shame, but this tree was so vibrant against the bright blue sky!

2. big fat raindrops
Probably my favorite kind! It was scattered showering while I was driving home from my canceled class and profitable library venture, but now it is hard core raining. I hope it rains all day, I sleep so much better when it rains :)

3. Gorgonzola, mandarin orange, dried cranberry, pecan crusted chicken salad.
this salad is soooo delicious! it's made at a little pizza place by my house and I've only tried it once before today. but i fell, gave in to my craving for it. {disclaimer: worth it} I'm sure it would be super easy to whip up at home, except maybe for the pecan crusted chicken part. it totally hit the spot for me :)

4. passion 2012 modge podge : D

[ugh flash : ( ]
I had so much fun making these mini posters to keep a record of all of the fantastic memories made at passion 2012. I've only written about it thus far. |{here} & (here)| I'm very happy with it. All I did was cut out letters from two magazines,cut out information from the passion material, and paint modge podge on it.

5. I made my English teacher a felt flower hair accessory and she was really happy and thankful.I was actually surprised at how happy she was. Her face was very bright and smiley, she even gave me a hug! This teacher is such a great teacher, her class is so much fun! {hopefully i'll be posting a tutorial on my felt flower soon}

I've had a fabulous week, how has yours been? Feel free to link up, also!

There is still a problem. [modern day slavery]

Miscellany Monday @

{{slavery}} wait, it still exists?

Yes, it does still exist and there are twenty-seven million slaves right now. That is a pretty astonishing fact, a fact that can cause hope to soar in you to be the change or fill the need or, maybe just the opposite, deep sorrow. "How in the world could this slave trade be abolished?

 Well, there are a ton of resources available for people who need help. There are groups like the A21 campaign who go in and rescue victims. This group also has safehouses for these ladies to stay in after being rescued.  I saw the lady who organizes A21 at Passion, her name is Christine Caine, she is a very energetic woman who channels her energy for Christ. She had so much scripture put to memory that she kept referring to in her talk.
I just took the slavery footprint survey. It is a very eye opening survey, basically by what you own calculations are made to see how many slaves work for you. I took the survey and found I had 35 slaves working for me. Pretty shocking, it caused me to think twice. The slavery footprint group has an android and iphone application to let companies know that the customers don't want products from slaves. How cool is that?! I think it is so neat that this group is utilizing the technological age we are in to help end slavery, ultimately to give God the glory. Here is some info about slavery footprint, & you can get the app here.
Another group called Tiny Hands is involved in many things but there is a really neat program they started called One Girl Prayer. You "spiritually" adopt a girl and pray for her, the traffickers, government officials etc. I think I'd like to do that. A really practical, powerful way to get involved, and super easy! Plus, you donate $10 and receive a bracelet as a reminder to pray for the little girl.

This should be moving, irksome, and impacting. why? Because spiritually, this was you before Christ. You were trapped, bound in chains with nowhere to turn. Everyday was the same, mundane, and at first things might have been fine and cheery. After your situation went south, where could you go? You couldn't run, and you couldn't hide. But still, Jesus was sent with an extended hand outstretched to you. Yes. You. Little you, the one who keeps messing up, who is so filthy, and has nothing to offer. But God still takes you in with embracing arms. He wraps you up and promises to never leave your side. Yes, there will be heartache, battles, and you will need courage, but He shall be your defense, your shield and he will go before you. So, we, who are physically free, and plenty capable of serving these destitute men, women, and children, what can we do? In Christine Caine's talk at Passion 2012, she was sharing with a Russian girl the good news of the gospel and truth about God. Truth that he had a plan, a destiny for her, no matter what occurred in her past. The young girl then proceeded to ask,"If what your telling me about your God is true, if this is true about your God, then why didn't you come sooner?"

{source} //and we'll dance, dance, dance in your freedom, forevermore forevermore//

We are to go to the nations. Each individual has a God ordained purpose in sharing his mission : bringing the gospel to all. Each of us have unique talents and gifts. How are you using yours to further the Kingdom of God? Where has he planted you? Are you even aware of the need in this dying world? This is not our home, you and I have a very short life here. What am I doing that is worthwhile? What are you doing?

2 Corinthians 5:1-7

 1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of  things not seen.

Friday finds-- Target treasures

friday favorite things | finding joy

{linking with Mrs.Rachel}

Yay for meandering in peace and quiet for over an hour and a half. :)

I found these two items, purple pleated dress and coordinating earrings at target, both of which on clearance! I've been determined lately, that I can be fashionable for less. I discovered the earrings first and then set out on a mission to successfully match the earrings to something super! This outfit is going to be for my 18th birthday party. Which, is a little ways away but hey, that's okay right?

The pleats on the top are what caught my attention. Only problem? In my mind, shoes can be the deal breaker. If the whole outfit is matched nicely, and the shoes are terrible. I'm done. Ever since I've hurt my knee, while in a wheel chair or five or so days, I was closer to the ground. i.e. i noticed everyone's shoes at passion 2012. ahem 42,000 people? yeah I probably saw all their shoes. ; ) Back to the point, I have no idea what shoes I should wear with this. I have a pair of nude flower wedge laced ish heels (super cute! just reluctant to wear heels just quite yet.) I also have a pair or brown moccassin esque flats.

Happy weekend to you! :)
